Before entering the pet care industry full-time, she worked in healthcare as a nurse, bringing a strong foundation in responsibility, compassion, and attention to detail to her work with animals. She has developed a breeding program that prioritizes health-tested dogs and responsible placement with families. In addition to breeding, Shellie oversees a luxury pet resort offering boarding, daycare, grooming, and behavioral training programs. Her program incorporates Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) beginning when puppies are just two days old, supporting healthy neurological development and improved adaptability.

Shellie founded Natural Breed Kennels out of a deep love for dogs and a desire to raise the standards within the breeding industry. Her mission is centered on creating a responsible breeding program that prioritizes the health, well-being, and long-term happiness of every dog. By collaborating with ethical breeders and implementing strict health testing protocols, she works toward a long-term goal of reducing unethical breeding operations such as puppy mills. Her approach emphasizes individualized care, structured exercise, and social interaction to ensure every dog experiences a safe and enriching environment.

Beyond her work at the kennel, Shellie is actively involved in animal welfare initiatives within her community. Through Second Chance Rescue of NC, she works with animal control and rescue organizations to help dogs find permanent homes. She also supports adoption and responsible rehoming programs across the region. In her personal time, Shellie continues to explore advancements in dog training, behavior, and ethical breeding practices, reinforcing her lifelong dedication to improving the lives of animals.

Under Shellie’s leadership, Natural Breed Kennels has grown into a trusted pet care destination offering ethical breeding, cage-free luxury boarding, daycare, grooming, and training services.
